Стре́лка Васи́льевского о́строва — э́то восто́чный мыс о́строва, кото́рый де́лит ре́ку на Большу́ю и Ма́лую Неву́.
Так как Пётр I плани́ровал сде́лать Петербу́рг торго́вым це́нтром, по́сле строи́тельства Петропа́вловской кре́пости он на́чал стро́ить морско́й порт.
И́з-за мелково́дья строи́тельство по́рта перенесли́ от Петропа́вловской кре́пости к Стре́лке Васи́льевского о́строва.
Прое́кт Васи́льевского о́строва в XVIII ве́ке сде́лал гла́вный архите́ктор Санкт-Петербу́рга Доме́нико Трези́ни.
Во времена́ Петра́ здесь акти́вно развива́лась культу́ра и нау́ка, постро́или зда́ние Двена́дцати колле́гий (где сейча́с Санкт-Петербу́ргский госуда́рственный университе́т), Кунстка́меру (пе́рвый музе́й в Росси́и), зда́ние Би́ржи, Тамо́жню, музе́й Ру́сской литерату́ры – Пу́шкинский дом и други́е.
Сего́дня Стре́лка Васи́льевского о́строва интересу́ет тури́стов Петербу́рга, потому́ что здесь прия́тно смотре́ть на Неву́, Петропа́вловскую кре́пость и Эрмита́ж, а в пра́здники 27ого января́ и 9ого ма́я ка́ждый год на ростра́льных коло́ннах зажига́ют ого́нь.

The Spit of Vasilevskiy Island and Rostral Columns are located on the Eastern cape of the island, which divides the river into Bolshaya (=Great Neva River) and Malaya Neva (=Little Neva River).
Since Peter the Great planned St. Petersburg a commercial center, after The Peter and Paul Fortress was constructed, he began to build a seaport. Peter moved port construction from the Peter and Paul fortress to the cape of Vasilievsky island, because of the shallow water.
In the 18th century the project of Vasilievsky island was made by Domenico Trezini, who was the chief architect of St. Petersburg that time.
During Peter's time, culture and science were actively developed here.
The building of the Twelve Collegia (now there is Saint Petersburg State University located there), the Kunstkamera (the first museum in Russia), the Bourse building, the Customs House, the Museum of Russian literature – The Pushkin house, and others were built.
The Spit of Vasilevskiy Island is one of the most attractive touristic places in Saint Petersburg, it overlooks The State Hermitage Museum, The Peter and Paul Fortress and Neva River.
Every year during Russian Holidays on the 27th of January and on the 9th of May the Rostral columns are lit.
