Russian national cuisine

Fair to say that Russian dishes are considered one of the most delicious in the world. We have a huge variety of dishes, Russian cuisine is incredibly unique and without any doubt you will love it! Now I would like you to find out about some of our most popular dishes.

1. Borscht (борщ). Borscht is the most popular soup in Russia! There are many varieties of borscht. First of all, it differs in the way it is prepared. Someone thinks that borscht should be cooked with lard and meat, someone - with mushrooms, fish, chicken or other poultry. You can also serve borscht in different ways: hot and cold. The last one is more often prepared in the warm season, based on kefir and pickled beets. Sour cream, herbs and boiled eggs are added to this soup and served for lunch in the heat as a kind of beetroot.

2. Blinis (блины). Blinis are Russian pancakes rolled with a variety of fillings: jam, cheese, sour cream, caviar or even chocolate syrup. It is Russia's equivalent to a crepe. Blini are such an important part of Russian cuisine, a festival called Maslenitsa celebrates the beginning of spring with them. For the Russian people, pancakes are one of the favorite delicacies, we wish we could eat them all day and all night, enjoying the taste and aroma!

3. Pelmeni, damplings (пельмени). Pelmeni have long been considered a national Russian dish, although the history of their origin is not fully known. Pelmeni are well-deserved love, being both an everyday dish and a festive one. Delicious, juicy, appetizing - you can apply various laudatory epithets to your favourite dumplings! Each housewife has her own recipe for making delicious dumplings, inherited. The differences start from the preparation of the dough, the composition of the minced meat and end with the form of sculpting dumplings. They are pastry dumplings that

are typically filled with minced meat and wrapped in a thin, pasta-like dough. They can be served alone, slathered in butter and topped with sour cream, or in a soup broth. Definitely a favoruite in Russia and Eastern Europe!

4. Beef Stroganoff (Бефстроганов). Beef Stroganoff is a popular dish named after Count Alexander Grigorievich Stroganov. Beef stroganoff consists of strips of beef in a creamy sauce with mushrooms or tomatoes, often served with rice, noodles, or mashed potatoes. This recipe has a long history, and many variations for its preparation exist.
